Don't see the exact linkage here to your criticism of CCism. Are you trying to say that CCism is disordered like porn addiction, or are you saying that there is a strong link between food/eating and sex?
If it is the prior I disagree, and think you are flogging a dead horse on the food criticism. If the later so what? A hermit's brain will secrete the same chemicals eating a bowl of raw greens and oats as Jenna does after shooting a scene. It’s physiological and can’t be helped.
Question: did you ever consider that some of us do the food thing for nutritional value and family spiritual bonding?
Let me share a little mental exercise I do when I work in the garden. I imagine a time 60 years from now. An old man is bent over a trench with a little boy planting peas. He is showing a his five year grandson how to plant. He carefully flicks peas seeds into the trench with a crooked arthritic thumb. He shows the boy how to do the same. He speaks calmly to the boy as they work together over the trench. As they work, the old man recalls how his father taught him to plant. He recalls picking the vegetables with his mother, and the soups they used to make together, and then eat as a family. He longs to see them again, and work with them again. At that moment the old man is at peace, and comforted knowing that they are with him in memory and spirit as he teaches his little grandson to plant just like his father taught him. The old man is my son.
If we participate in the mystery of life by co-creating children, it is not so unusual that we should strive to make holy the mundane activities that it takes to support that life. It is not a stretch of the imagination, that one grows spiritually from these activities, and uses them to form the characters of their children. Just some thoughts, and I am glad you're keeping the site open.
